Finer Points in the Life of Me, Reeves
So, a new year is upon us once again, and I thought I might take this time to properly reflect on the finer moments of my life so far...
A good day for me was the day the hairy-haired girl let me sleep on her bed the whole day. I now believe in heaven.
Another good day was the day the hairy-haired girl didn't know that Mama had fed me, and so fed me again.
Yet another good day was the day I scared the bejesus outta the hairy-haired girl by calling her name. Dang, I'm good.
Ah, I have just one thing left to say: BRING IT ON, 2009!

The Thing From Under the Radiator
I stalked it all day. That thing under the radiator.
It stared back at me with its beady eyes, taunting me. Beckoning with its feeble heartbeat.
I refused to sleep until it crunched satisfyingly in my jaws.
In the morning, on the dining room floor, was the present of a squished mouse.

So, I guess now would be a good time to mention the Pregnant Cat, or as the people I own have deemed her, "Preggers".
Every few weeks, when she comes looking for me, she is pregnant. "I need a place to stay for a few nights, Reevsie." She always coos. And of course, I am all the happy to let her stay in the backyard.
She is so beautiful...so...ravishing. It's too bad she's not mine.
I gaze at her lovely face at my window, eager to join her in the Outside. But, when I conned the people I own (P.I.O.) into letting me go to the Outside, her presence had...eluded me.
If only, we could speak without the cold window between us...

Of Disappearances and Delights
This photograph is COMPLETELY unauthorized!
From time to time, I send the people I own on vacation. I simply cannot have them underfoot as I go about my business!
There is waaaaay too much that they stop me from doing! How would I be able to sleep on their beds if they were here? How would I be able to scarf down my food and fall asleep immediately if they were here?
But, the truth is, a cat can get a little lonely without someone to bite and scratch. And don't get me started on the noises an old house can make at night....

The Mama
I searched for her all night, but could not find her!
Yes, I know that I, Henri Reeves have previously declared my independence from all belonging to the human race, but I cannot help but love the Mama.
She left last night, and naturally I assumed that when I woke up, she would be there. But, do you know what happened when I awoke at 4:00 this morning? You guessed it: she still wasn't home.
So, being the problem solver that I am, I thought she might be outside in the garden. I tried to open the door, but had no luck.
Finally, when I had all but given up hope, in walked the Mama, mumbling something about the follies of baking all night.

The Outside
Although I appear to be very streetwise, I must admit that I, Henri Reeves... Oh, I cannot bear to say it! ...I have only been Outside a few times. There, it is out in the open now, happy?
I have gone Outside in the snow, but did not find it to my taste. It was--how do you say?--not my cup of catnip.
I ventured to the Outside, again today, only to grab a few breaths of fresh air before being caught again.
The air was so sweet! I felt the trees' whisper in my ear, the birds singing a beautiful-- wait, what am I saying? Have I caught "Spring Fever"? I shudder to think...
I am Reeves, hear me roar! I am Lord of the INSIDE! I don't need to reign over the Outside, who even wants the Outside? Blah, I don't.
